Saxophones, Sousaphone, Tuba, Flutes, Clarinet, Bass Trombone \u2026 Here is my story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sent at 8 eight years to the neighbourhood music school, at saxophone due to a lack of staff in the city orchestra (i wanted to play the trumpet, by the way\u2026), and after trying to spend a \u00abclassic\u00bb life, becoming Chemical & Physical Measurements Superior Technician, i definitely choosed to blow horns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actually, Saxophone is not so bad !<\/p>\n\n\n

After few years learning with N. Dary, A. Vill\u00e9ger, P. Mac\u00e9, T. Russo, N. Folmer and E. Spanii (Paris 9th conservatory), i created a big band named L’Oreille Cass\u00e9e<\/a>, for wich i wrote all the pieces, and i recorded a CD album with Inama<\/a>, co-led jazz sextet rewarded at Saint-Germain-des-Pr\u00e9s<\/em> and La D\u00e9fense<\/em> 2007 Festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As saxophonist, clarinetist & flutist, i collaborated with Fred Maurin’s contemporary jazz orchestra Ping Machine<\/a> and led the 1000 Bornes Trio<\/a>. I still take part in Banda Les Verres Luisants<\/a>, friends brass-band from city orchestra (see above), who preferred rugby stadiums and fiestas<\/em> to concerts and commemorations in churches with shiny leather shoes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here comes 2005 summer, and a Sousaphone with it. Huh ?! How does it works\u2026
After some doubtfull moments, i start to like it and to feel like a bassist (place i had in Banda Los Amarillos<\/a>, but with a Baritone sax\u2026). I decide to learn Tuba (with Fred Marillier & J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Dufort). After some well-done-music-school-things, i became Tubist\/Sousaphonist of Julien Soro’s Big Four<\/a>, Julien Silvand’s New Orleans & Tap Dance band Les Oignons<\/a> and Amina Mezaache’s brazilian 4tet Maracuja!<\/a>
I also contributed to some free improvisation sessions (Amok Improv’).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

April 2012 : 12 incredibles days in New Orleans, Louisiana, where i took straight from its source all the music i love, and met & played with huge musicians from Rebirth, Dirty Dozen, Stooges & Treme Brass Bands and some others\u2026 Birth of the 112 Brass Band<\/a>, which is a meeting between acoustic hip hop and brass band on stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fascinated by large-scale ensembles, I joined L. Cugny’s Gil Evans Paris Workshop<\/a> on tuba, & bass trombone, the 2 Cartoons <\/em>programs of Fred Pallem & Le Sacre du Tympan<\/a> (reeds) and Surnatural Orchestra<\/a> (sousaphone), an atypical musical collective to say the least\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2019 to 2024, I had the pleasure of participating in Fred Maurin’s National Jazz Orchestra<\/a> and its various programs: Dancing In Your Head(s)<\/em> (tribute to Ornette Coleman), Rituels <\/em>(original repertoire), Dracula <\/em>(young audience), Ex-Machina<\/em> (collaboration with S. Lehman and IRCAM) & Frame by Frame<\/em> (progressive rock).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As long-standing partners in crime, I play bass trombone and tuba in Le Grand Schwab<\/a>, a joyful and delightful big band, as well as in Paul Jarret’s Acoustic Large Ensemble<\/a>, a more experimental and intimate group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 sees the creation of two new ensembles, The Other Side Orchestra<\/a>, a nonet conducted by J. Soro and D. Deau, and the film concert for young audiences, “Le Gar\u00e7on et le Monde<\/a>” (The Boy and the World).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
